Mae govannen my friends, The project Minhyriath was founded by me in March 2007. I am also a founding member of the helvetic folk powermetal band EXCELSIS. In a time when there was no music which connected folk and metal we released our first album ANDUIN THE RIVER in 1996 which dealt with the stories of the writer of LORD OF THE RINGS J.R.R. Tolkien.
I kept dealing with the whole story of Middle-Earth and decided to write my own songs at home. The Middle Age has always had a fascinating effect on me and I wanted to play the flute and the bagpipes and introduce other old instruments, which we actually already did with EXCELSIS in 1996!
When I put all these songs on myspace in order to find out what other meatlheads say, I was extremely surprised of the positive reactions!
I was accepted by a label and the first album GONDOLYN will be released in early 2008! The songs were not re-recorded, but only newly mixed, since we wanted to preserve the spirit and the vibe of the first take!
A second album after GONDOLYN is already in the planning stage. Otherwise I wouldn’t know what to do with the time which I spend in front of the computerJ. However, the instruments like bagpipes and flutes will be recorded by friends who actually know how these instruments have to be played! It won’t be last you hear of meJ!
There were also many gig requests and since I have already had many concerts with EXCELSIS with bands such as In Extremo, Skyclad, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Schandmaul, Subway to Sally, Accept, Rage and many others and since I am a big fan of live concerts, I will, when I have some spare time, gather a detachment of OrcsJ in order to play these songs live!

das projekt minhyriath wurde von mir im märz 2007 ins leben gerufen! ich bin ein gründungs mitglied der helvetic folk powermetal band EXCELSIS.
in einer zeit als man die verbindung zwischen folk und metal vergeblich suchte, veröffentlichten wir 1996 unsere erste cd ANDUIN THE RIVER, alles über die Stories von herr der ringe schreiber j.r.r. tolkien! ich befasste mich mehr und mehr über die ganzen mittel erde geschichte und so beschloss ich, nebenbei zu hause, eigenene songs zu schreiben. das mittelalter hat mich schon seit je her fasziniert und ich wollte auch flöten und dudelsack und andere alte instrumente mit einfügen! was wir im übrigen schon bei EXCELSIS im Jahre 1996 ! vornahmen! Als ich die Songs auf myspace setzte um zu sehen was andere metalheads dazu meinen, war ich extrem überrascht von der riesigen resonanz auf die musik! es kam so weit, das mich ein label aufnahm und die erste cd GONDOLIN anfangs 2008 veröffentlicht wird! die songs wurden, bewusst, nicht neu aufgenommen sondern so gut als möglich neu abgemischt um den spirit des first take nicht mehr zu verfälschen! ein nachfolge album von GONDOLIN ist auch schon in sicht, was will man ja sonst die ganze zeit vor dem computer anfangen :-)! allerdings werden etliche instrumente, wie dudelsack oder flöten etc. von anderen freunden, die das ganze besser beherrschen als ich es tue, eingespielt! ihr dürft also gespannt sein :-)! auch war die anfrage nach live gigs sehr gross und da ich mit EXCELSIS schon etliche auftritte, mit zum beispiel in extremo, skyclad, korpiklaani, moonsarrow, schandmaul, svbway to sally, accept, rage und vielen mehr hatte und ich ein grosser fan von live auftritten bin, werde ich, sobald mir es die zeit zulässt, einen trupp orks :-) zusammen stellen um das ganze live zu spielen!
